I got a roll of the metal ball chain at Hobby Lobby. I'm pretty angsty to try these two techniques because of how "unique" my previous experiment with pouring paints went. I will persevere though!

Oh that opens up some new ideas to me. I will be experimenting soon.
My abstract painting books arrived. One has been useful and mentioned techniques to try. the other one is technical and not so useful. So I have a cardtable drying area and assorted acrylic abstract paintings on it. Almost ready to cut them up into ATCs.
I tried melting crayons with an iron, here is the technique:
I lightly drew the iris outline with pencil. I scraped crayon shavings with my fingernail using the violet color (a lighter lavender might have been better, but that would have required a bigger crayon box!) I carefully placed the shavings inside the iris outline, allowing for space to spread with the melting. Did the same with green crayon shavings for the stem. I placed a square of parchment paper over the iris and turned my iron on low (silk setting). Placed the iron on top of the parchment paper for about 3 seconds and lifted directly off. Waited a couple of minutes and lifted the parchment paper off. I painted the iris outline with purple acrylic for better definition, same with the green stem. The yellow "beards" were done with 3-D paints. I finished up by painting a blue acrylic background and cut to ATC size. The center picture should be on the end
I would like to join.
These are all of Yosemite National Park in California. For each I used a "dip pen" plus a brush wash with Winsor and Newton "Nut Brown" ink on heavy matting board. I will probably make more as I'm just now getting a hang of how to draw dipping the nibs into ink rather than using a drawing pen.
After buying pens and ink today, these cards are averaging me $12 each! Going to the artist supply store is never cheap!
I have a 'Make Your Own Stamp' kit . . . does that count? If so, please sign me up.
I have only had it for two years and want to try it but need a push . . . . please push me! lol
Lurking...I want to try trace monoprints using picture frame glass & washable markers. Is it ok for my cards to all use the same picture to trace? There would be variations inherent to monoprinting & variations in the colors used.
