Are mine zoo-y enough? I haven’t made enclosures for the elephants. I read the instructions when the thread first appeared, but when I made the cards much later I wasn’t thinking of zoo settings. If they aren’t good enough I’ll make more and offer these cards in my gallery. My cards haven’t reached the mailbox yet.

Ancient Planter - think of the San Diego Zoo where animals have acres to roam rather than being penned up.

I remember going to the San Diego Wild Animal Park, which was different from the zoo, and we had to take an elevated tram around the park to see the animals. I wonder if that's still around? But that is what I was thinking about as I painted!

EDIT: Looks like it is still around, as a part of the zoo - San Diego Zoo's Wildlife Safari now. And it's $90 and up per person! Thank goodness I was a kid when I was because my mom, on a teacher's salary, could never have afforded taking us to the zoo and the safari, or Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm, now, like she did in the 60s and 70s for me and my 2 brothers. She would switch off, every other summer, a weekend in San Diego or a weekend in Anaheim/Buena Park.

My elephants are ready to mail

"Randolph", "Imogene", "Yes, a Pink Elephant", and "An Elephant Named Zia."

I draw elephants all the time. The first three are drawn from a photo I took at the Omaha zoo. The forth is just silly and fun. If the elephant is just a plain old elephant, it gets a name instead of a number. If I can think of a fun title, I use a fun title.

All were drawn with my new set of cheap alcohol markers. I don't know how long they will last, but I love the very thin tips and the assortment of colors! (And the cool case that I can take with me when I travel.) New art supplies. One of life's greatest joys!

A BIG OOPS AND AN APOLOGY!!!

Once again, I am guilty of not reading the rules thoroughly. A good friend sent me a kind note with a reminder. So I will be posting MORE elephants later....

    They shall be realistic.
    They shall be HP.
    They shall follow the rules.
I am not fussed at all.
An excuse to make more Ellies.... and do a side trade....
