Decorative napkins are one of my favorite things to use in mixed media pieces - except that you have a whole package of the exact same thing! What a bummer. This swap will remedy that problem. I’ve created 3 different groups and you may join one, two or all three.

Group 1 is for decorative napkins that are predominately floral, plants, butterflies and/or birds. (this is the easy group as there are hundreds of designs that fit this description).

Group 2 is for decorative napkins that are predominately anything else. There might be a flower in a French sidewalk cafe scene and that is fine. The dominant design of the napkin should NOT be a flower, plant, butterfly or bird.

Group 3 is for patterned napkins that would likely be used as a background. These could be stripes, dots, chevrons, paisley, etc.

This swap is a relatively quick turnaround as there is nothing to make, simply find a fantastic package of decorative paper napkins (or two), remove the extra layers of paper and mail. That being said, I am allowing 6 weeks so that international members have a chance to join if they’d like.

~ Join the group(s) you are interested in & buy decorative napkins that fit the description.
~ Carefully separate the 2nd / 3rd ply of paper off of the decorative top layer. Sometimes this is difficult so if there are a couple of small tears in the decorative layer, that is ok. If there is a piece of the decorative layer missing, please don’t send that for the swap.
~ Keep a napkin (if you like the design) and send the rest to me. Send between 8-12 napkins for each group you join. I will not include your own design in your returns
~ On May 1st, I will send back the same number of napkins to you - all different designs within the group that you join.
~If you send napkins for more than one group in the same envelope, please make sure it is clear which napkins go with which group.

**If you leave the 2nd & 3rd layers intact - you will spend much more postage sending the napkins to me.**

Mailing:
ALL players please include a LARGE address label with your name and address clearly printed on it. I will provide envelopes or will reuse the envelope you used.
US players - please include postage equivalent to the amount it took for you to send your envie to me.
International players - For each group you join, please include a US international forever stamp, a well hidden dollar bill or I have Venmo. Your returns will cost more than that but for sake of ease & simplicity, I’ll cover the rest.

Please write your user name and the group number on the outside of your envelope.

I will give iTrader feedback when I receive your napkins, and will also update this post showing that your napkins have arrived. In return I encourage you to give iTrader to me when you receive your swap returns.

Also, you can tell me if there are colors or designs that you prefer to NOT receive in your returns (no reptiles, no orange, etc.). I will TRY to accommodate requests but cannot promise.

I have tons of napkins. But I mostly have pieces of napkins. Are you saying that once we remove the top 2 layers we should send all the panels of the napkin? What about if there are some panels that are white?

If the decorative part is only in one or two panels, you can cut the others off. Most of the ones I have are designed on all 4 panels.

Melissa, are different sizes ok? There are dinner napkins and smaller cocktail and luncheon napkins. I am interested, but will wait a few days to sign up and choose my group(s).

Different sizes are fine. The only requirement is that they fit with the group details.

I added a number range- please send 8-12 napkins for the group(s) you join. Decorative napkin packages have a pretty wide count range. I didn’t see any less than 8. The biggest I’ve had was 32 (cocktail size).

I just bought a bunch of different napkins while visiting my family and doing the thrift shops.

Welcome Chimerix! Thrift stores- I hadn’t thought of looking there. I was saddened to find out that our Tuesday Morning store is going out of business. That’s where I could find really cool napkins for a reasonable price. I went there last weekend and only found one package that didn’t have flowers. I have a couple packages in my cart in Temu. Has anyone else checked out that website? It’s quite dangerous for mixed media artists! I’m going to have to ground myself from looking.

I think I could go crazy trying to separate these plies for too long at a time. Some of them really stick together, and I have to pace myself and only do about 5 or 6 at a sitting!

I have a napkin stash so I might not have to buy any. I have to go look and see what I have. But obviously I must feed the dog first. She is a very vocal dog and is currently singing a sad song about how she is starving. It is not even 7 am yet.
