Welcome to my Color in the Animal World Swap!

This swap will explore the ways color exists, functions and is perceived by the animals with which human beings share our earth. I have recently been inspired by David Attenborough’s three-part documentary Life in Color.
Color is one ecological characteristic of animal life in jungles, rainforests, deserts, the arctic tundra, oceans, coral reefs, tide pools, savannahs, agricultural settings and even our own yards and homes. Color can help animals to survive through camouflage, warning or courtship rituals – or for reasons totally unknown to human beings. And the majority of animals on earth probably perceive color somewhat differently from human beings.
Cards for this swap can present any aspect of color and animals that interests you and in any media of your choice. You can just choose to create cards of animals whose colors you like or you think are amazing. You can show the differences in color between males and females of a species. Maybe create a collage showing an animal blending into its environment.
Whimsical, cartoon-y and humorous cards are welcome too as long as they pertain to real colors in the animal world. They don’t have to be completely accurate but they need to use color in a realistic way. Pink flamingos dancing, bees seeing a flower with ultraviolet light, realistically-colored animals with funny tag lines are fine. So are collages that use bits of pattern or text in the colors…but sorry, no dragons, unicorns or flying rainbow pigs this time.
Swap Requirements ~
* All cards should be standard 3.5” x 2.5”
* This swap is 3 for 3 only. An extra card for the host is welcome, but completely optional.
* Cards must be original. Send work into which you put time, imagination and care.
* Please use only small, light embellishments on your cards and no large stickers.
* Please protect your cards with plastic sleeves.
Mailing Information ~
* Include username, real name, your state/country and the swap name on the back of all cards - and put username and swap name on all envelopes sent.
* US Participants – Please include a clearly written SASE or a mailing label & stamp.
* International Participants - Please send a clearly-addressed envelope or mailing label and I will cover postage.
Please PM me for my address when you are ready to mail your cards. Please post in this thread when you are sending your cards out, that way I can keep track of the cards when they were mailed. Any late cards will be returned.
When you receive your returns, please leave I-Trader for your swap host and rep points for the artists of the cards you receive. People like to know where their little artworks find home.
