Jezebelle’s AFA Anniversary ATART May 3-8, 2023!
This is the official thread for…
Jezebelle’s AFA Anniversary ATART!
WELCOME TO THE PARTY!
Who?
You. This ATART is open to everyone at every level doing any type of art. No invititation required.
What?
We will be Creating and Trading Art…
- For this ATART you are welcome to make whatever you like, but I will also provide some optional prompts and challenges (see posts #2 and #3)
- Create art of any type to show and tell: ATC’s, APCs, chunky pages, inchies, twinchies, moos, coins, bookmarks, baubles, jewelry, art dolls, rolos, tags, shaped cards of all types and sizes, post cards, envies, altered anything– or whatever type of art you feel like making.
- All media are welcome: drawing, painting, collaging, stitching, beading, digital, photography, melting, assemblage, and anything else you can come up with.
* You do not have to trade what you make. Please feel free to share whatever you’re working on for swaps or for yourself or anything else.
Socializing…
Even if you don't have time to make anything, please stop by for a visit. Feel free to check out what people are doing, comment, and chat. (see also post #4)
and Celebrating!
Where?
Start right here in this thread! Over the course of the athon, please upload your creations to the Athon Gallery (I’m using the abbreviation JATART). You can link to your creations in posts here and trade through PMs.
When? Start and End Times:
The party starts at 12:01am Wednesday, May 3 (MY time zone, that’s USA, Eastern time zone) through 11:59pm Monday, May 8 (YOUR time zone, so you can squeeze in as much ATART fun as possible). I’m terrible at this time zone business, so I will be doing a count down to start time in the thread.
Why?
May 4, 2023 is my 1 year anniversary at AFA. I want to have a party to celebrate that milestone and the wonderful community I found here! (That’s You!)
How?

General a-thon info (for all ATARTs)
What IS an ATART?
It’s an All Types of ART marathon where you can create art, made over the same time in each time zone. This thread is going to be our crafting room.
HOW IT WORKS:
Start creating art when it's time to start, then upload your lovely creations to your Athon gallery and post to the thread. Trading and chatting are going on all the time.
After all the trading is done move your creations OUT of the Athon Gallery and into their correct Galleries - 'Available ATCs' or 'Mail Art'
HOW TO ASK FOR A TRADE:
When you find a piece of art you would like to trade, please SEND A PERSONAL MESSAGE (PM) to that person asking for a trade. Please DO NOT post requests for trades to the thread. It can get way too confusing.
Note: If you do make a trade, please be sure to send to your trade partner within two weeks. If you’re running late, communicate!
WANT TO COMPLIMENT AN ARTIST:
And you will… remember you can click the You Rock button and leave it there or just simply click Like button.
HOW TO POST YOUR ART TO THE THREAD:
From your atcsforall.com gallery:
It’s easiest to have two windows open.
1) Go to your gallery and copy the image location
2) Go to your post and paste the copied text
3) and then you're done.
Remember that images from the gallery can be small, medium or large. Find the word in the address and change it to the size you want.
From your computer:
1. Click POST REPLY at the bottom of the messages screen. Above the message box, click the paperclip next to the smiley face. Then upload as usual. This will upload your picture as a thumbnail.
2. If you go into the Quick Reply box at the bottom of the messages screen, click GO ADVANCED and you will get the paperclip above the message box.
* I do not personally use these methods to post my pics. I’ve tried them and they work, but for me they were not the easiest. If you are struggling with these methods let me know, I will try to help. Maybe over the course of the ATART I will find time to add a tutorial for “my way”.
NEW TO A-THONS?
If you have any questions at all, feel free to pm me or post your questions to the thread. We have a lot of experienced art-a-thoners who are more than willing to help those of you new to this craziness.
—————————————————————————————————————————————————— ————————
Many thanks to sniisk, somnia, and Donnacr, whose words I have blatantly plagiarized, butchered and rearranged to suit my own purposes!
**Please consider my heartfelt pleas for forgiveness, I simply cannot keep my words to a minimum.

Optional Prompts:
Your First Swap - What was your first swap? Have you revisited that theme or technique lately? Have you grown as an artist since then? Have you improved your skill level, expanded your materials repertoire, developed or changed your point of view? Revisit your first swap, or any of your early swaps at AFA, and make a card or cards inspired by it. Maybe it would be fun to try it again in a different size, media, or technique.
Loteria - My first ATC swap (ever!) was an HD/HP Loteria Card swap hosted by trini70. Make a Loteria card or cards. Or make any kind of art inspired by Loteria. Don’t limit yourself to HD/HP, use any technique or medium you like.
Celebrate - Parties? Fancy hats? Fireworks? Cakes? How do you celebrate? Make some art showing us who, what, where or how you like to celebrate.
Animals - This is a theme I find myself coming back to over and over again. Let’s make some animal inspired art, realistic or abstract, serious or whimsical, or anything in between.
Some of my favorite animals are… goats with horns, ravens, crows, raccoons, opossum, African painted dogs, and most of all buffalo/bison
Some of your favorite animals are… birds, unicorns, bees, big cats, dogs cats, horses, turtles, wolves, snails, insects…
Black and White - It’s simple. Or is it? Add some gray scale or a pop of color if you want to.
House Shaped - House shaped is so much fun! I started with house shaped ATCs, then I became obsessed with tiny houses, and now I love making house shaped postcards. Make some house shaped art, or if you’re feeling adventurous make a card in whatever shape inspires you.
Inchies! - AFA introduced me to inchies and I am smitten. These tiny works of art are seriously challenging and seriously fun. If you haven’t tried them yet, now is the time. Make an inchie, or 6, or 12. And don’t neglect all the other smalls. Try a Twinchie, Moo, or Coin.
Pencils - Do I really have to say more? Probably not, but I will. I love Pencils! Thanks to Allegrae’s Weird Holidays swaps I discovered Pencil Day/Drawing Day, National Pencil Day, and No. 2 Pencil Day. Make art inspired by pencils or use pencils of any kind to make art.
Postcards - I joined EAU (http://www.atcsforall.com/forum/show...cts-Unite!-May) last October. Since then, I’ve made a few envies, a lot of postcards, and some new art friends. Make someone happy with happy mail. Send it naked or dressed, your choice..
Repurposed Materials - If we have ever traded, you probably know this about me - I reuse, repurpose and recycle. Everyday is a great day to make art with repurposed materials. And I encourage you to use repurposed shipping material as well.
* Use as many or as few as you like on any day – these are here to inspire you.
Add your suggestions in the thread and I will collect them in post #3 for easy reference.

Make a Challenge, Take a Challenge
Do you want us to join you in the project you’re working on? Do you want to suggest a fun or crazy idea? Do you want to try a new technique or see how other folks do it? Do you have a particular theme that you would love to collect during this ATART? Make a challenge in the thread and I will list them all here for easy reference.
* challenge - Post in the thread. What’s your favorite animal?
* theme - birds and flowers and butterflies, separately or together - inspired by fishsteak and CiCiCreates
* challenge - Invite a newbie (that you’ve met) to the party. Befriend a newbie that you haven’t met yet.
* challenge - Initiate a trade with a newbie.
* theme - monochromatic art - inspired by LuAnnP
* theme - Throwing Rocks - inspired by LuAnnP and jez with credit to the originator of this phrase that I outright stole, I believe it was KESagers (I sure hope I have that right, it would be twice as bad for me to steal, and not even know who I stole from) (or to accuse KESagers of throwing rocks if she didn’t!)
* challenge - Suggest a new name for this ATART. Please!
- Jezebelle’s AAA
- Jezebelle’s AAA Roadshow (what?)
- ATARTY!
- JATART (jo.on.the.go)
- CO-HO-ANIV-ATART (somnia)
- Terrific Trio ATART (mrubyjean)

Care to Share?
One of the best bits about my first athon was the time I spent getting to know some folks at AFA and letting them get to know me. If you’re new here, jump in and introduce yourself. Join us in one of these conversations or start a conversation about something that interests you.
* What have you learned at AFA? This year, your first year, any year? About technology, about art, about life? Feel free to make/link a tutorial or link to a thread.
* Tell us a food story. What’s your favorite? What did you eat last? What are you cooking next? What’s your best, or worst, food memory? Have you made any art about food? Or with food?
* What swap(s) are you playing in/working on right now?
* Show us a Work In Progress. Tell us about your inspiration and your process.
* Tell us about your first swap, your first athon, or your first trade. Tell us about how you found AFA and what convinced you to join. Or tell us any part of your AFA history that is memorable or meaningful to you.

Hey there friends!
I’m so pleased to see you all checking in (especially since I haven’t managed to send out any invitations out yet). I am feeling the love. Now I don’t have to worry that no one will show up. Whew! Thanks for the Happy, Happys. I look forward to catching up with you all.

Hey girl! Happy 1 year here! This looks like a fun party.
I remember one of my first swaps was overpainting a photograph. Best fun swap ever!
It was called Paint-over madness date: April 2010
Here is the photo I did and loved.
It is called the Shotgun Wedding.
