Envie Addicts Unite! June
I'm an Envie Addict! Hopefully, there are more of you out there! What? You're a newb? What's an Envie you say? If you don't already know, Envies are altered envelopes. They can be drawn on, painted on, upcycled, collage and mix media up! Sky's the limit. Getting personal mail is nice, but getting a mini traveling museum is the best! We also allow postcards!
So here's what I propose, let's get a good sized group going for a monthly swap. It would be a nice way to get our fix of envies on a regular basis. Let's share our ideas, links to inspiration, and get to know each other as artist.
How the NEW sign up works:
First, I will post a new thread like normal. For the first week I will be accepting players. Players have the 1st thru 7th of the month to come to the thread and say, "I wanna play." Once you join, there is no withdrawing.
Next, I will make up a partner's list and post it on the 8th of the month.
My suggested mail out date would be the 15th, but for the most part your Envie needs to be in the hands of your partner by the last day of the month. If anything is late, there is a little forgiveness if you are communicating with your partner.
In the past, we've had a lot of peeps that flaked on their trade. Itrader points will now play a big part in who plays in E.A.U. If you had a wonderful experience, fabulous! Leave positive points. If you had a hiccup, but your not too bent outta shape about it, leave a neutral point. If you had a total "flaker" and your experience was horrible...well then you might want to think about a negative point. (Consider yourself warned.)
How will the points help us? I figure it this way. If you had a neutral point as a result of playing in EAU, you will be given a second chance, but a second one in a row will be considered a negative point. If you've had a negative point within 3 months no matter where you were playing, you cannot participate.
Naked! Is how we send our Envies...as is. However, there has been times that mail has gone missing. If you feel that your Envie might find the same fate, you can send it within a plain envelope. But! ... your art has to be dressed up with faux postage and addresses.
Stuff, your Envie's with something sturdy like cereal boxes or junk mail. Send it out, but don't post a pic at AFA until you hear that your partner has received it. Save the surprise for them.
Once, you get word that they have it, share it all over the place. We're nosey! We wanna see too!
Size Rules: Your Envie has to be a minimum of 3 5/8 X 6 1/2 inches. (Small Business Envelope) ...and up...

I have a busy month on deck that isn't going to allow much art time, so I'll be a lurkey turkey for now. I'm SO very good at that, ha!

JenteachesAdaptiveArt let me know that she received the postcard I sent her in May. Here's a photo of it for your enjoyment.
You can also find it in my gallery. Maybe tomorrow when I'm less exhausted I'll add that link.

I won't be playing this month. My mom was supposed to start radiation on the 13th but one of her surgery "lap sites" decided to get infected so we first have to get that healed. I'll try to check in from time to time.

I've been so busy lately, I haven't been able to do anything new in my garden. I still dream of ideas for filling in the empty spaces going on in my yard. I came across this trend that's called a Moon Garden. Have any of you heard of it? Anyone have a moon garden? A moon garden is basically all white plants in one area. Some even have Moon Gates. Here are some examples...

NY! So glad to see you again! Fandanie back for another round! I'll add you both to the list!

I've never heard of a Moon Garden. That is so lovely! All white is a cool look. I find that because I have so many succulent beds, most of the time everything is just green. Which is great, but not much color unless the succulents are having their annual blooms. So, I've been trying to add more colorful flowers alongside them to spice things up. I prefer perennials over annuals...but am a sucker for extra pretty "add ons" that I don't need but catch my eye at a garden center. I'm running out of yard, which is a good problem, I suppose.

Here's a fun little share from me. I thought this group might enjoy this. And it certainly is a step toward what we do here with EAU. From msn.com:
7 Reasons to Add Stickers to Your Envelopes
Story by Heidi Bender • May 23
Stickers are not just for kids!
1. It is fun.
2. The plain white envelope is boring. Make it less boring with a nice sticker.
3. They add some personality to the envelope.
4. Enjoying stickers can help encourage you to make thank-you note writing a habit.
5. Using stickers you know the recipient will like adds a little joy to their day.
6. Picking out stickers you like can bring you a little joy.
7. The mail carrier may also enjoy them. Think about how much mail they handle each day!

My gosh I have become plant crazy, but this time of year I start to hold off. It's really starting to get hot over here. I don't think anything new will be able to survive my yard. I'll wait til about early Fall before i buy plants again. The good thing about that is that they seem to get cheaper to buy by that time. I have a small yard, but it still seems daunting to fill up. I want to put in bigger things to add interest to every (at the moment) boring unused stop in the yard. I have spots in the yard that we don't utilize simply because there's no reason to go there. ...I'm hoping to add a gazebo and another fountain, but hopefully bigger. My yard shape is also rectangular. I hear for a more interesting (secret garden vibes) yard, you should try to add twists and turns to your garden. ...So slowly I'm gonna try an achieve that. Don't know how many years it'll take, but hopefully it'll be fun a long the way.

Funny you bring up the stickers. I just bought a bunch of them. It was part of my order from Temu. (Which I know I said I'd share with you what I bought) I promise, I'll get to that. I wanted to take some pics for ya'll. A haul share I suppose. Most of what I got was craft related.
I also had taken up postcard writing lately. My son moved to Washington in March. He and his girlfriend send me postcards from some of the places that they went exploring to. Their postcards are so fun and artsy. So, I have also amassed a bunch of arty postcards myself and sent them some in return. ...Now i even write to my brother who is still in Hawaii living on his one.
LOL! I wrote all of that and realized that I didn't even say why it was funny that you brought up stickers! LOL! I've been sticker'ing all of my postcards and letters lately! ...and it is fun and mail is more interesting for the receiver.
