Fantasy Firebird is taking names for CJ group members

Well ladies, and gents. After taking part in three circle journal groups I have now decided to be the group Momma. What I would like now is for five more people to join me!!
After due consideration on the type of journal group I would like to run/take part in, I have decided to go for an open media group. With people being able to create the pages in the way that they can do best for the subjects chosen. Having taken part in both hand-drawn and open media groups myself I have found that the theme chosen by the other participants have made a great difference in how able I am in being able to create pages that I am pround of.
To that end I would therefore suggest that people taking part with me a) choose their theme and b) specify whether they have any particular dislikes in any media (whilst leaving a fairly openchoice of media for others).
When you join a circle journal group, please remember that you are signing up for a long haul swop. You have to be prepared to complete your pages and post them to your monthly partner in good time. I want this to be a fun event, I don't want it to feel like you are having to do that hated homework on time - we must all enjoy the experience, and to do this we all have to promise to keep everyone informed about where we are at throughout the event.
I do hope that some of you will wish to join me - I am waiting for your message!!

    1. Fantasy Firebird - 8 x 8 pages please. I have decided to asked for pages of Inspiration - whether that be of quotes to inspire you, people that have inspired you to try new things, places, poems, pieces of art etc. Sometimes the beauty of a single flower can inspire you to attempt to draw it, or it may inspire you to set pen to paper with prose, what do you find inspiring?
    2. Lily Lemon - theme of "Girl Power"-- depictions of, quotes about, artists' personal definition of girl power and/or artist's journal entry on when she realized her girl power/ any other thoughts artist has on girl power, etc.Size 8 x 8 . I, too, would love to see "handmade" elements in the pages!
    3. alteredmommy - 8 x 8 pages (but if you want to make some smaller feel free, I like when things don't match up) in the theme of icon art. I love the style of old Russian icons with the gilding and saintly figures. I'm looking for the style rather than religious content so go right ahead and make up saints if you like, please nothing too "cute".
    4. hokeycokey - The Dark Side
think gothic, spooky, creepy, horror, supernatural, etc
I would like the pages to be 8"x8" to fit in a standard album. All medias welcome but can i ask for some element to be 'by your own hand' (ie if not hand drawn/painted (my favourite media), then to have hand written journalling such as a poem or quotes etc.) I think that the pages would be more 'personal' that way, thanks!
    5. goodmorningstarshine - pages to be 8 by 8, and for the theme to be fantasy. Not to be too dorky, but fantasy in the tradition of dungeons and dragons, such as dragons, elves, gnomes, fairies and the like
I would like some element of my pages to be done by hand, too. I am a big fan of collage, but I really don't like receiving something that is just a computer page print out of someone else's art, so if you prefer to collage it, by all means collage it!
    6. isisjean - 8 X 8 journal around the philosophic theme/question of "How should one live a good, happy life?" I would like the CJ participants to include personal antidotes, stories, thoughts about what it means to be a good person, to do good, to be happy, basically what is your personal life philosophy. I do not want overtly religious entries (no preaching or demeaning or misinformation), but welcome answers/replies that are supported by a personal religious devotion. And, above all they should explain WHY they hold the philosophy they do!!!I really want mixed media, collage, handdrawn work, and ESPECIALLY journal entries!!!

I would love to join (as you all probably know from my pouty little post in the "Art Discussion" forum!)

I would like the theme of "Girl Power"-- depictions of, quotes about, artists' personal definition of girl power and/or artist's journal entry on when she realized her girl power/ any other thoughts artist has on girl power, etc.

ETA: Size 8 x 8 . I, too, would love to see "handmade" elements in the pages!

Excuse me for being really dumb here, but what is a Circle Journal? Is it that the artist would do a page (in a theme) for a book?

    Never mind, I've been enlightened.

Daydreemer, congratulations on your enlightenment!! Yes a circle journal is where each person in the group makes 2 pages to the set theme of each player. Each month you send out the pages to the person to whom you have been assigned. At the end of the circle you will have received 10 pages of your chosen theme.
Are you interested in maybe joining us??

LOL I am sure you did, I had the same problem first time round LOL
size - it is usual for the individual to choose the size 7x7 or 8x8 being the size choices I have previously come across.

2 page spread - all we ask for is the one side with the back having your information on. Your choice as to whether it's a 2 page spread or 2 separate pictures.

I hope I am being better than a little vague?!!

I would like to join - I have a couple of questions (being new to this, so please bear with me!): am I right in thinking that we have 1 month to complete each set of two pages? therefore 5 months in total to complete the 'swap'.
also that we will be mailing the finished pages directly to the recipients, rather than mailing the journals (if you see what i mean!) obviously this cuts down on postage weight so i think that's right....now i'm rambling on...

so, if i've assumed the above rightly then i would like to choose my theme:
    The Dark Side
think gothic, spooky, creepy, horror, supernatural, etc
I would like the pages to be 8"x8" to fit in a standard album. All medias welcome but can i ask for some element to be 'by your own hand' (ie if not hand drawn/painted (my favourite media), then to have hand written journalling such as a poem or quotes etc.) I think that the pages would be more 'personal' that way, thanks!
    Taking a break....

I would love to be a part of my first ever circle journal! I'm so happy that everyone else answered all the questions I had. I would like the pages to be 8 by 8, and for the theme to be fantasy. Not to be too dorky, but fantasy in the tradition of dungeons and dragons, such as dragons, elves, gnomes, fairies and the like.

Like hokeycokey, I would like some element of my pages to be done by hand, too. I am a big fan of collage, but I really don't like receiving something that is just a computer page print out of someone else's art, so if you prefer to collage it, by all means collage it! I'm not trying to be overly demanding, I promise to spend hours making something artsy for you!

If Dadreemer decides not to take the last spot (if I'm counting correctly), I'm interested... but I'd like to know some dates... when would the first one be due? Sorry if I missed this info elsewhere in the thread.

no you didn't miss the dates I did LOL. on the basis that we should be up and running for the start of October I would suggest that we make our first deadline the first week of November and so on, if that is acceptable to everybody?

Well we have our members, all we need to do is find a name for ourselves, so suggestions welcome, then I'll get this group up and moving!!
I thought it would make sense for the pages to be with our partners in the first week of November. Would that work out ok for everyone??

Do you mean send during first week? I think I would need right up until that time but, yes, that would work!

The coolest name I saw on the CJ forum was the Felterellas. It wouldn't apply, of course, as we aren't doing felting, but it's still cool.

Maybe we could have a cool rock band kind of name, like Altered Sunshine or Moonglow Masterpiece or something.

If anyone's seen and loves Reno 911, the "Grape Slushies" is a great name to go with! Hint: I suppose it only seems funny to those who know what I am talking about. Oh, well!
