I don't mind at all. I like the idea of my cards just floating around out there somewhere.

But isn't the "t" for trade?

Hi. I am new to the hobby of ATC, and this topic has sort of caught me off guard. I thought the "T" was for trade, indicating that the cards were to be traded in perhaps a variety of ways. I'm not saying that someone should pass off someone else's work as their own, but I'm wondering about the sharing/trading options.

Once a piece of artwork goes out your door, are there strings attached? Art often goes from person to person to person. But it seems that some ATC artists sort of .... want to maintain control of their artwork.... ?

I'm trying to learn the "rules" so that I don't misstep. It is generally unacceptible to trade or give away an ATC made by someone else?

Hi Art101, on our Site members only trade their own works of art. This List thread was started because occasionally there are second generation swaps on Site. Some of our artists don't mind if their cards are re traded in this type of swap. Others would rather have their cards returned to them if the new owner no longer wants them.

Thanks for clarifying, Carol. I appreciate all the tips I can get as I "jump in". On topic, I've read about people going to meetings (big and small) to trade, is it OK to trade other people's cards there? Similar to how people trade treasured baseball cards? Or do you go to a meeting with just your own work to trade? Thanks for the help on these questions.

Most live trades sessions are for trading your own art.
You can start a discussion in the Lounge about this topic to find out for sure.

Could you add me as "please return"?

If people don't want my cards, I'd like to have them back and choose who to pass them to next myself.

    Return my cards
I don't understand why someone would trade if they did not want the card? Oh well

I've thought about this a bit in the last few days, and changed my mind, I'm ok with anyone trading any of my cards for any reason.

Carole, put me down as "ok to re-trade." I like the trading aspect of the cards, and I like to think of my cards being swapped around There are lots of good reasons why someone might wish to re-trade in art101's post above. I'd much rather have it traded than trashed, and I would feel rude returning someone's cards to them, as some people have requested. I don't think I could bring myself to do that.
