This thread is for setting up PERSONAL swaps with other members,
for 4x4" chunky book pages.
-ALL pages need to be 4x4", and 'chunky', which means thick (multiple layers of cardstock, or matboard or coasters are perfect). Make sure they are sturdy pages, not flimsy.
-Also, add embellishments for dimension; ribbons, beads, hanging fibers, buttons, etc. (to make them chunky)
-Pages will be FULLY decorated on the front. Back should be artist info/simple decoration, but blend with the color/theme of the book.
You can swap pages individually here - by arranging private trades with anyone posting here. But if you want to fill your journal faster, consider joining a group!
This thread will let everyone have the fun of creating a chunky book in the theme of their choice, without the expense, timetable of mailings, and limits of a traditional group. If you are already in a chunky book journal group, you can get extra pages for your journals easily, as well, by signing on to accept pages from traders not part of your circle group.
How does it work?
It works as a clearinghouse - rather like an online dating service! You create your ‘ad’ listing your journal and what you want. Others read your ad and contact you to arrange a trade. The two of you work out the details any way you wish and you’re in business! You can choose which themes you are comfortable making. Please be friendly if someone else is not confident in that theme or does not have time to trade, or asks you to trade. Mind your manners, be gracious. You do NOT have to swap with everyone who asks, choose the swaps that are most mutually beneficial for each person involved.
How to post an 'ad' for chunky journal pages:
1. THEME: Declare your theme/topic that you want for your book!
2. Consider what you want or don’t want in your journal (theme, mediums, etc.)
- DO's: Are there any art techniques you want to encourage - or exclude?
- DONT's: Are you open to art that is openly religious, edgy, suggestive, political, or irreverent?
3. LOCATION: Decide whether you are willing to accept an international trade or want to keep the mailings within your own country only.
4. BINDING? Are you TOP binding, LEFT binding your pages? State if there are any limits on embellishments (where you need it bound)
5. Any other COMMENTS?
Then, just post your ‘ad’ here as an invitation to other artists to trade pages with you! REMEMBER, to come back and delete your 'ad' when you are done with your book!
Only post 3 themes at a time, please, all as separate entries as much as possible. (see my first post as an example)
How to CHOOSE a book to create pages for:
-Everyone is free to browse the ad listings. When you find one that interests you and you are comfortable with the theme/mediums/limits set, send a private message to the person and arrange the trade details between the two of you, just as you would for any 1-1 trade. That’s all there is to it!
-Please be friendly if someone else is not confident in that theme or does not have time to trade, or asks you to trade. Mind your manners, be gracious.

-Make sure to leave feedback when it arrives, PM your partner when you send, etc.
Not sure how to word your listing? Here’s a sample:

Theme: Hippos
Details: top-bound pages, no embellishment on top 1/2", I will punch holes (artist info on the back of the page)
Accepting: All techniques
Not accepting: work that is religious, political, or edgy.
Comments: I love fat hippos...chunky spunky purple crazy hippos in any form or style or place.
