“MY IRRESISTIBLE COLLECTION “, ATC Swap, Open Media, due Dec. 3

I have to withdraw. My life has become very complicated. Our dog is having surgery and will need extensive care to encourage her to rest. Not so bad when my husband can help but he is beginning some cancer treatment and won't be available for times.

I would like to join this swap, please. I am a bit of a pack rat, so I have a number of collections.

When I was in third grade we had to do book reports and I read the book Mr. Popper’s Penguins. That got me interested in them and was also when I started my collection, over thirty years ago now. I have t-shirts, jewelry, books, posters, a music box, even Peguinopoly, a penguin themed Monopoly game. If it has something to do with penguins, there’s a good chance I have it.

One of my favorite collections is my pressed pennies collection. I like to travel and always get them anytime I’m somewhere new if they have the machines to make them. I thought I had around 150 or so of them, but I just counted and have 235! It’s been a while since I checked to see how many I have and I had no idea!

I love collecting the squashed pennies!! I have 2 'penny passports' full. Not near 235, that's impressive!

I really don’t mean to be neglecting my own swap, thought it was high time I checked in! There are a few intriguing new Christmas themed swaps and Mail Art swaps cropping up now, I’ve been trying to be smart and not get overwhelmed! Cards from MAKITSO have arrived, gorgeous art deco jewelry!

Hear are mine. Don't know how many different snowmen and women I have. I get some out before Christmas and stay up until April if we have snow. Some are in cabinet and are out all the time. They will go in the mail tomorrow as it is snowing today. Might have to get some out.

They are all so cute and colorful - and cheerful! Wonderful collection! What are they made out of? Or are they all made of a different material? About how many do you have? Thanks so much for sharing!

Leyda, thanks for sharing your collections - very well drawn! I see one of your Little Prince pieces.

Thanks . I have been collecting them for years. Usually when you find one of the machines, they have more than one design you can get and I always get them all. Also, other people get them for me sometimes, since they know I collect them. I just wish I could figure out a way to display them. There’s so many of them, I can’t think of a good way to do it.

I don't know how many I have. Most of them are breakable, but some are stuffed , made of wood and diamond painting suncatchers that I have had on my stand by the TV and I might just hang them in the window soon. I have candy dishes, salt and pepper shakers, Tea pot and candle holders. Music boxes too. I love them all.

Here’s a funny collecting story. It involves my youngest grandson (now 21!) when he was about 4 years old. We would go for walks around the neighborhood, and he would pick up these little bee-bee gun beads. The ones made of plastic in bright colors. They’re tiny, but he could spot them right away. Then when we got home, he would tell me very seriously “This is a very rare one”. I think it was a color that made them rare, though one color did seem to be as rare as the next. He just thought that was the perfect word, rare.

Oh Nancy, sending you much healing thoughts for you, your dog, and your husband. Much love!

Love your collections and the cards that represent them, mybrokenart! Wonderful how you used the selvage edge showing the color dots on the quilt card. And the bug card is very soft and delicate looking, pretty dragonflies!

My cards should go out this week. CiCi if you have not moved over the past year I have your address.
My collections include mushroom chatzkies, thimbles, reamers/juicers and books.2024Collections.jpg

Just wanted to let you know you and your husband are in my thoughts and prayers. My dog recently had surgery too. I hope your fur baby is recovering nicely and being a good patient :)
